Summary Description: Reporting to the Advisory LoS E&C Managing Director, this role is responsible for the completion of activities that will support the Firm strategy for a shared responsibility for compliance among the Advisory LoS and the US Ethics & Compliance Office. The Advisory LoS E&C Senior Associate is responsible for assisting with the following areas: 1) Engagement Compliance Reviews, and, 2) Continuous Compliance Monitoring within the Advisory practice. Engagement Compliance Review Perform engagement compliance reviews - assessing compliance with risk management policy Review two engagements for each eligible Advisory Partner each fiscal year. Continuous Compliance Monitoring Monitor the creation of MAP files for each new engagement. Monitor the attachment of the engagement letter for each new engagement. Monitor partner hours on all Advisory engagements. Follow up and address quarterly issues of CPA Work Office License noncompliance for staff Follow up each quarter with partners who failed to update their Joint Business Relationship information in the Independence system. Follow up with all Advisory individuals identified by the CPE Compliance Office that have not complied with continuing education requirements. Participate in Ethics investigations as requested by the Office of the General Counsel Identify opportunities for and participate in the design and delivery of Advisory Line of Service Ethics and Compliance education. Behaves in a way that demonstrates the knowledge and understanding that continuously improving compliance and ethical practices in Advisory is part of their responsibilities. Supports the execution of the strategic direction for US Ethics and Compliance within Advisory including alignment between Ethics and Compliance and Advisory business strategy. Collaborates regularly with members of the Advisory Line of Service Ethics and Compliance team to execute and address needs to help promote and monitor compliance in the areas of ethics, privacy, government regulations and Firm Independence policies. Models PricewaterhouseCoopers Behaviors towards building and maintaining a high performance team. Helps to implement communications and training within the Advisory Line of Service to drive integrity based decision-making and conduct. Contributes to the continuous improvement in day-to-day Advisory Ethics and Compliance operations. Understands implications of changes in compliance regulations and policies on Advisory operations and on the Firm. Assesses personal progress against strategic priorities. This role will serve as a role model for ethical behavior consistent with the mission, vision and values of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Strategic & Technical Orientation / Job Content: Requires technical understanding in Advisory subject matter area and ability to identify and assist in solving complex business problems. Work within Advisory on ethics and compliance topics, including Independence, CPA Licensing, Privacy, among others Conduct ongoing compliance reviews Identify and appropriately escalate compliance issues as they arise from monitoring and review activities. Range of Impact: This role is responsible for contributing to the development, implementation and operation of the Ethics and Compliance function within the Advisory line of service. This includes active participation in initiatives already underway within the Ethics and Compliance Line of Service Advisory Group which include, but are not limited to: helping to establish monitoring and compliance reporting tools, significant contribution of development of processes and procedures, and importantly working to identify areas for both simplification of Firm procedures and opportunities for additional monitoring and reporting tools. This individual will be expected to collaborate with others Advisory Line of Service Ethics and Compliance team members to contribute to resolution of challenges identified across the Line of Service Ethics and Compliance function. Scope of responsibility: This person is a key member of the Advisory Line of Service Ethics and Compliance team and will work closely with the team to execute strategy throughout the year, ensuring incorporation of compliance and ethics challenges and areas for improvement to be addressed. A strong understanding of compliance in an organization is a plus but not required. A working familiarity with investigation procedures is a plus but not required.
