Description: 08-171 Eye Care Director - Eastern US Job Code : 08-171 Division/Company : Pearle Vision Location : New York NY US 10001 Travel Required : None Job Type : Full Time Career Level : Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff) Education : Bachelors Degree Skill : Category : Retail/Optical Compensation : Job Description : OVERALL MISSION The Director of Eye Care supports delivery of theLuxottica Retailmission and the related success of its corporate locations in achieving their mission by: A) Working as a team with the Vice President of Pearle Eye Care and field management to select, contract, orient, evaluate, develop, motivate and retain doctors and supporting office staff for all Pearle employed and subleased offices . These associates will work collaboratively with store management to deliver superior service, value and business results in offices and stores, B) Partnering with the RVP and RDOs to deliver planned sales and operating income goals for the group. C) Effectively instructing Managing ODs, Associate Optometrists, subleased O.D.s, and Office Staff regarding the use of best practices and practice management tools, guides and processes that result in consistent delivery of Trusted Eye Care, and the establishment of collaborative operations/optometric relationships, resulting in growing store and office business, quality health care, a positive work environment and high and constantly improving customer/patient satisfaction. D) Overseeing the management of the optometric offices operated by Pearle Vision to deliver best business results, develop and maintain outstanding overall patient satisfaction, develop and improve best practices and practice management tools. RESPONSIBILITIES Sales and Income Delivery · Partner with Supervisor, field and store operations management to develop and deliver planned employed office sales. - Coach and support ODs and Office Staff on building sales, increasing Rxs, other key internals. - Track results; analyze overall trends and specific impact of action plans in opportunity offices Use “Pearle Connect and Co-Planning” meetings to ensure Corporate ODs and SMs develop collaborative action plans to build the business. Optometric Coverage · Lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive OD coverage plan for all company offices. - Support recruiting and prospect for/maintain a pool of candidates for new and vacant locations. Work with RDOs and OD Recruiting to provide candidates, follow-up on on-line interest forms, and interview candidates as needed. - Apply competency-based OD selection process based on clinical skills, chair-side manner, and the willingness and ability to deliver Trusted Eye Care. · Coordinate or oversee orientation of new ODs and existing ODs who are taking a new location. Monitor, in office and store sales, OD KPIs, secret shops, PSAT, inside Rxs, and other metrics to identify and act on opportunities to build business with optimized coverage. · Partner with operations to develop and share Optometric Coverage Schedules; identify and correct coverage deficiencies utilizing standardized coverage guidelines, and sound exam forecasting principles to grow the business profitably. · Leverage cross-brand employment of doctors and associates as appropriate. Utilize cross-brand scheduling of doctors within malls and within markets to optimize the total business. Utilize cross brand subleases where appropriate. · Support OD development of staffing plans that flex as traffic varies with seasonality and during promotions. Secret Shops- Ensuring a Successful Outcome · With RDOs, MODs and SMs, analyze opportunities and develop action plans to improve Secret Shop Scores. Coach and support OD behaviors that support service level improvement efforts by Pearle. · Coach ODs in consultative behaviors, ensuring that all patient needs are uncovered and met, and that appropriate prescriptions are written and discussed with each and every patient. Ensure a successful outcome for every patient. Communication/Culture · Identify and lead problem-solving of any significant optometric issues affecting employed and subleased ODs. · Help coach active alignment withLuxottica RetailVision, Mission and Core Values by ODs and office associates · Coordinate OD involvement inGift of SightHometown Days, Vision Van, & Missions. · Promote collaboration between the brands as we move forward on our journey of becomingBetter Together. Training · Work with RDOs to coach and support employed ODs use of Best Practices and other tools to increase office efficiency, productivity, quality and patient satisfaction; address the needs of specific doctor offices with existing programs. · As needed, develop new, value-added OD and technician training programs and tools. · As needed, help with development and implementation of new training programs for field and store management to develop managerial and leadership skills that deliver Trusted Eye Care. · Utilize OD mentors and Rising Stars to help with the ongoing development of MODs and AODs. Policy and Process Development and Implementation · Implement policies and guidelines for employed ODs, as established by the Company. As needed, make recommendations for policy revisions to Supervisor. · Lead business-justified, fair and equitable use of discretion by MODs and Associate ODs in optometric issues, ensure documentation of basis for discretionary decisions, particularly as they affect clinical quality of care. · As requested by Supervisor/ RVP, participate in financial/business quality of care and operations review of employed offices. Clinical – Office Design, Equipment & Delegation · As needed, support the development and update of optometric office design, and equipment and instrumentation standards for procedures delegated to technicians. · As needed, support testing and evaluating new eye care products, technology and processes. · Monitor industry changes in patient health, clinical care and safety. Maintain compliance With Local Regulatory Requirements · Maintain functional working knowledge of state regulatory requirements for optometric practice in employed markets. Stay abreast of any pending rule changes or legislation, and partner with Luxottica Retail’s legal and regulatory services department accordingly. · Ensure that all Pearle employed offices are in compliance with HIPAA, PIPEDA, and other privacy policies. Vendor Relations/Competition · As directed by Supervisor, coordinate ophthalmic vendor contacts with employed and subleased ODs for variousLuxottica Retailoptometric activities, including Regional and national meetings, tests, training programs. Managed Vision Care · As requested by EYEMED management, ensure active participation as provider for group directed plans accepted in employed offices. · Ensure the timely completion and submission of all EyeMed, Medicare, and managed care credentialing materials, preferably before doctors begin seeing patients at Pearle. Follow-up with EyeMed, Verifpoint, and CAQH as needed to ensure timely processing of all credentialing applications. Best Practice Management · Through office visits, observation and utilization of reports, analyze compliance with standards of care and minimum eye exam requirements. Provide guidance to ODs on utilization of approved exam protocols. Coach ODs and Staff on patient record creation and management to document quality of care. · Monitor guidelines for Medicare and insurance coding and billing related to eye exam and related covered services to optimize revenue in compliance with the law and guidelines. · Review and coach OD skills in providing a thorough eye exam efficiently, utilizing equipment and instruments effectively (e.g., use of Optomap, visual fields, retinal photography, dilation, etc.). Coach appropriate delegation to properly trained and supervised associates. · Maintain clinical competency of employed ODs in the diagnosis of ocular pathology as allowed by law. Support development of clinical best practices for employed ODs that improve patient care, build PSAT and grow revenues profitably. Share these best practices with subleased ODs. Coach ODs on new clinical skills and observe ODs competency in key optometric skills and knowledge. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS · Doctor of Optometry, Masters, or Bachelors degree preferred. · 7-10 years of at least one of the following: - ownership/operation of an optometric practice with demonstrable success, - multi-unit responsibility for physician, optometric practice, or retail management, - franchising, subleasing or contracting responsibility for an optical company, ophthalmology group, practice management company or health care/ ophthalmic goods and services franchisor, or similar experience.

Other Requirements · Associate must reside in or near a Pearle Vision employed Market. · Associate should plan to spend minimally three weeks per month in stores.
