Date Posted: 9/8/2008 Description: Our client, a major (very large) Federal Credit Union, is looking for a Senior Manager who will work closely with the COO to ensure the overall growth and management of FCU Insurance Services and also Investment Services, for ensuring its profitability and efficient administration, overseeing the activities of the Insurance Centre, the Investment Centre, FCU Financial Services, LLC FCU Financial Advisors, FCU Advisors GMBH; ensuring compliance with SEC, NASD, NCUA, State Insurance Regulators; ensuring close alignment and shared vision with FCU, the parent organization; and all other applicable rules and regulations. Note, several years of Senior Management experience in insurance services is more critical, some experience in investment services is a plus. This position reports to the COO of the CUSO. Reporting to this position are two Investment Centre Managers, the Insurance Centre Manager, the DC Financial Services Manager and the CUS Financial Analyst. The functional programs, management processes and systems supported by the CUSO AVP are critical to the overall organizational effectiveness and quality of member service provided by FCU. With ever-changing economic, social, demographic, environ-mental and regulatory patterns and competitive marketplaces, the incumbent is challenged to stay abreast of the latest techniques, philosophies and disciplines in the delivery of financial and retirement advisory services and management of the credit unions CUSO resources. ACCOUNTABILITIES ? Plans, organizes, directs, manages, oversees, integrates and evaluates the credit unions Financial Services corporation operations, activities, staff and results. ? Direct the business development activities related to growth of all FCU Financial Services activities. ? Establish and nurture business relationships with key contacts and various strategic partners. Conduct business development presentations to targeted member groups and to outside organizations to build revenue and produce net income. ? Promote and facilitate a strong service and sales environment consistent with that of FCU and the CUSO. ? Work with COO to research and recommend new product and service offerings, and effectively coordinate implementation with FCU support departments and outside vendors. ? Research and review competitors? offerings and negotiate relationships that are in the best interests of FCU/CUSO and its clients. ? Provide COO, executive management and CUSO BOD with timely and accurate financial and activity reports. Ensure CUSO Board Package is issued accurately and in advance of meeting. ? Work closely with COO to prepare budgets and business plans. ? Work with individual business line managers to set goals for their respective business lines consistent with CUSO and corporate objectives. ? Establish, review, and modify policies, procedures, and controls. Monitor the activities of the CUSO and Investment services offered through FCU to ensure compliance with applicable securities regulations domestically and internationally to minimize regulatory risk to the CUSO and FCU. ? Maintain awareness of developments in the CUSO industry and the financial services industry globally. Monitor regulatory trends and developments. ? Responsible for planning and implementing marketing activities in conjunction with FCU Marketing Department. ? Interview, select, monitor, coach and evaluate new employees and ensure their proper training, coaching, and development. Maintain a challenging and rewarding environment for the staff. ? Identify high potential client groups outside the FCU membership; develop and utilize marketing channels. Research and implement methods and processes to enhance availability of products and services to international markets, and to efficiently administer them. ? Perform any other functions as directed by the COO. WORK ENVIRONMENT An incumbent works under standard office conditions. Financial industry experience required with emphasis on insurance services and, to lesser extent, the investment services. A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position is through obtaining a Bachelors degree in a business field or equivalent work experience. Excellent oral and written communications and professional presentation skills. Excellent computer/PC proficiency. Advanced degrees such as MBA, CPA, JD or CFP. Fluency in Spanish a plus.
