Education: Not Specified Date Posted: 9/16/2008 Description: Our client, a major (very large) Federal Credit Union, is looking for a person to take responsibility for assisting the VP Financial Services in the creation and management of a profitable insurance agency for the FCU Financial Services LLC. Oversee the activities of the Insurance Service Representatives and all activities related to the sale and service of insurance products.

NATURE AND SCOPE The position supports the FCUs vision of building a profitable and global insurance agency that provides both members and non-members with appropriate risk management solutions.

ACCOUNTABILITES

Develop and implement a business plan for the delivery and implementation of risk management (insurance) solutions on the individual and group level for members and non-members consistent with FCUs existing sales and service culture.

* Build a profitable book of business by focusing on the needs of our members but also utilizing professional and personal contacts to develop non-member business opportunities.

* Provide the VP Financial Services with accurate and timely reports with regards to sales activity and progress towards business plan goals.

Perform all duties associated with insuring that the sales team, support staff, FCU, and FCU Financial Services, LLC are compliant with New York State Insurance Dept., NCUA, and all other applicable regulatory agency and laws.

Manage the daily activities of the sales team and the sales support staff as well as provide training, coaching and mentoring.

Promote and facilitate a strong service and sales environment consistent with that of FCU. With the hiring of additional sales staff, provide coaching to achieve sales goals that are consistent with member needs.

* Conduct timely performance evaluations of staff as required by the HR dept.

Work with the VP Financial Services and the FCU Marketing Department in the planning and implementation of marketing activities.

* Maintain expert knowledge of individual and group insurance products and services.

Develop and maintain relationships with insurance carriers.

Develop and maintain strategic relationships with insurance wholesalers and agencies that offer complimentary solutions.

Work with the Investment Centre Branch Manager and other FCU department managers to develop and implement strategies to cross-sell the full menu of FCUs financial products and services.

Work with FCU management and supervisory staff to educate FCU staff on insurance products and how they are used in a risk management process. Provide training and coaching to facilitate branch staffs ability to identify member insurance needs and to promote a sales culture.

* Perform all duties inherent in a managerial role: Challenges and develops staff to be more effective, efficient, and satisfied with the work they perform for the Credit Union, Members and Non-members; Prepares and administers performance evaluations; Interviews and selects candidates for employment; Promotes teamwork and cooperation within the lending unit and across the Credit Union; Utilizes coaching techniques to achieve desired performance level of staff; Administers action plans and other disciplinary action as needed.

DESIRED COMPETENCIES An incumbent in this position must possess a New York State Property and Casualty License and Life and Health License. Most posses a proven track record in selling insurance products and services. Minimum of 10 years experience as an insurance sales and operations manager is required. Excellent understanding and commitment to educationally based selling. Exceptional written and oral communication skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills. Excellent knowledge of individual and group insurance products. Strong commitment to team building, client service and technology. A typical pathway to obtaining the requisite knowledge and skills is at least ten years experience as the owner or manager of an insurance agency.
