Currently we are seeking a Product Evaluation Engineer Manager within the Panasonic Services and Technology Company, based at our North American Headquarters in Secaucus, NJ.
Basic Function: Product Evaluation, Quality Assurance, and Technical Support of Consumer Products
Accountabilities
1. Pre-Sales Activities a. Establish product evaluation policies for new model introductions. Work closely with product Domains to implement service policy and procedures. b. Manage product evaluation engineering staff by providing direction and guidelines to perform their functions. c. Balance customer needs and expectations, factory design and production limitations (cost/time), marketing/dealer/servicer needs, ergonomics requirements, safety, environmental, and training issues for all aspects of the product life. d. Manage the establishment of technical evaluation procedures for prototype hardware, firmware & software. e. Negotiate with factory on improvements to cosmetics, operation, performance, packing, interconnection, compatibility, and general ease of use of the Display, Video and Communication Products. f. Establish service policy for products ? includes coordination of product introduction, repair methods, repair locations, special repair techniques, spare part confirmation, service training coordination with the factory, warranty changes, classification for data tracking, and literature confirmation. g. Interface with marketing department and factory personnel to study and recommend product specs and industry trends to meet market requirements, make recommendations for feature additions and changes, and more efficiently or effectively setup, or interconnect products. h. Monitor and Provide input to control quality, repairs, returns and evaluations of PCEC business of approximately $4.0 Billion in sales, 11 million units annually. i. Attend and/or provide technical support at trade shows, dealer shows, and press conferences. Attend industry-sponsored technical events at the request of management or the sales division.
2. Post-Sales Activities a. Investigate quality problems reported by the field, Customer Call Center, or discovered by our early warning system ? may include interface with Company technicians, independent (IND) technicians, field support personnel, sales, factory, technical hotline, or end-user. b. Manage and maintain analyze repair data to track each models repair record to be able to accurately report on product quality to management and factories. c. Manage staff to provide technical support to Company technicians, IND technicians, dealers, field support personnel, sales, factory, technical hotline, training department, call center staff, and in some cases, end-users. d. Occasional travels to domestic or overseas factories to improve communication, review quality issues, make recommendations for product improvements, and address/negotiate open items. e. Gather, evaluate and distribute product improvements ideas from Call Center, McAllen PRC product return process, and competitor evaluation data to LiHD group.
Basic Qualifications
1. Scope ($, employees, and other resources manage. Attach organization chart) a. Work in a group environment with staff of 7-10 product engineers and two supervisors. b. Manage a 2.1 million in group budget. c. Responsible for daily work and schedule of group activities. d. Responsible for maintaining and enforcing Quality and Service Threshold standards set by management. e. Collaborate new product ideas with PNAs LiHD group to improvement customer products in the US market.
2. Education and Experience a. BSEE degree and minimum 5 years experience on customer electronic products such as, Display, Video, Video Recorder, Communication and BTS products. b. Minimum 5 years supervisory experience. c. Strong background in the electronics industry standards (EIA, IHF, JIS, IEEE), applications, market trends and production. d. Experience using lab test equipment such as Video Analyzer, Vector scope, Waveform Monitor, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal generators, Oscilloscope, DVMs, etc. e. Knowledge of RF principles and antenna theory. f. Familiarity with digital television broadcast standards (ATSC, QAM) and theory. g. Familiarity with National and International Telecommunication standards related to Telephony. h. Knowledge of LAN and WAN networking technologies like T1, ISDN, etc. i. Understanding of TCP/IP protocols, Computer Telephony integration (CTI) and Voice over IP. j. Knowledge of specialized software such as ORACLE and Peoplesoft a plus. k. Computer affluence with Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook. l. Experience with reporting and data systems such as Oracle, P-Cast, and Data base structure.
3. Key Competencies a. Excellent written and oral communication skills. b. Must have strong written and verbal communication, and computer-related skills. c. Strong presentation skills needed to bridge technical issues between designers (factory engineers) and non-technical personnel (Sales, management). d. Team leader with the ability to motivate others.
