Panasonic is seeking to hire a full-time Group Manager for the Panasonic Professional Display division within the Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems Company. The Group Managers responsibilities are for business results of distinct product category including marketing, sales and profit and loss.
Planning/Review/Reporting Develop clear and concise monthly, annual and mid-term plan for the business including sales volume, marketing strategy, expenditures, profit or loss targets and, for the mid-term, strong product development plan.
Forecast purchase, sales and inventory 90, 150 days out based on analysis and interpretation of general economic environment, specific market trends, government legislation, sales data, etc.
Review market analysis to determine customer needs, volume potential, prices, and develop sales/marketing campaigns to accommodate the goals of the Business Plan.
Establish the appropriate measurement tool to periodically, a) assess the current and future sales situation, b) report same to management, (including accurate sales forecasts) and c) take appropriate countermeasures working with other departments where necessary, to ensure attainment of Business Plan and quota sales, profit and inventory targets.
Establish/Maintain close working relationship with factory, and communicate relevant short term/long-term issues in a timely manner.
Sales Management Establish and manage an effective sales organization.
Train and motivate the sales organization. Clearly communicate the mission? and other pertinent information to the sales team.
Efficiently manage the sales territories. Coordinate sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas and goals, and advise salespeople and dealers concerning sales and advertising techniques.
Monitor and evaluate performance and take timely corrective measures where appropriate.
Maintain price consistency in the market
Identify and explore new market/distribution opportunities for growth.
Business and Product Management Responsible for achievement of business plan profit through control of expenditures as well as gross margin on sales. (Negotiation of FOB cost and establishment of sales price)
Maintain reasonable (within business plan) levels in 1st, 2nd and sample/loan inventories.
Responsible, in conjunction with marketing, for developing, introducing & evaluating sales/merchandising strategies; approval of advertising/ad placements; all model pricing, and special transport, i.e., air shipments, etc.
MANAGEMENT Manage the business unit function with $40M in annual sales and a total staff of 3 people. while indirectly managing certain shared services such as Marketing, Service and Administration to ensure the business units objectives are met.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A 4-year degree and a minimum of 10 years experience in related business environment. Specific industry experience advantageous and thorough product knowledge essential. Problems encountered concerning product direction, distribution management/alternatives, product positioning etc. often have a high complexity level. Sales/Marketing approaches need to be new and creative to distinguish products and services from the competition.
COMMUNICATIONS Strong communicative, interpersonal and negotiating skills required. Both strong written and verbal skills required to effectively communicate with factory (up to the Director level), end-user customers, dealers, sale force and internal shared service managers and senior management. Working within this matrix organization as well as with dealer/distribution network requires strong personal presence as well as keen skill at persuasion.
