REQUIREMENTS: This position will be part of a seven-person team that supports and engineers the Central Development Lab (CDL) for the Development organization. The mission of this team is to ensure development teams have the hardware, software, and engineering support for their efforts, while continuously looking at ways to improve process and cost efficiencies. As a member of the CDL, this position will be required to perform and fulfill several job functions. As physical hardware is a large portion of our responsibilities you will be required to build, rack, and configure servers as needed. This includes installing the operating system and connecting all necessary network and storage, moving racks as needed. This position will also be required to interface with our Development partners as part of providing support or when determining the hardware needed to provision environments. This position will also be responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the SAN storage infrastructure currently in place, including the configuration of storage as required by development.

Responsibilities . Work with functional teams to determine what equipment will be needed to build requested environments. . Ordering and receiving of hardware . Racking, wiring, and powering servers. . Participate in the installation, configuration of host platforms including Windows 2000/2003 and SuSE Linux. . Responding to support requests for server maintenance and hardware failures. . Interfacing with external Engineering teams to provide additional support when needed. . Participating with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, optimization and troubleshooting of storage hardware and software. This individual will also analyze and resolve storage hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate manner. . Running fiber cables, configuring zones, working with DBAs to ensure configured storage will meet requirements. . Escalating issues when appropriate. QualificationsRequired (Experience, Skills, Academic): Technical Qualifications . 8+ years related experience working in a development lab environment, including racking and connecting servers. . Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of Windows 2000/2003, SuSE Linux, and Solaris operating systems. . Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including TCP/IP, DNS, Fibre Channel, FCIP / iFCP, and iSCSI. . Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware such as workstations, laptops, printers, switches, hubs, modems, network interface cards, and the like. . Familiarity and experience with data replication, tape backup, data archival, and disaster recovery concepts and procedures . 2+ years experience working with SAN technology. Some knowledge of storage capacity planning, storage performance, and general management / best practices . Willingness to pursue at least one certification in one of the following: Sun Solaris, UNIX, EMC, VM or comparable technology solutions . Knowledge of Rational tools, specifically Clearquest. . Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. . Bachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education/experience General Qualifications . Communicate information and ideas (verbal and written) so others will understand. . Arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations). . Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong; troubleshoot problems looking for solutions or escalating for others to resolve. . Good follow-up skills on open and outstanding issues . Strong willingness to learn . Good Customer Service skills. Experience with enterprise technical support a plus. . Excellent time-management skills. Ability to multi-task with the flexibility to change course frequently. . Motivated team player with a proactive attitude. . Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations in a dynamic environment . Physical Requirements include: o Ability to lift computer hardware and supplies up to 40 lbs. o Ability to sit for extended periods of time. o Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components. o See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
