Description: BASIC FUNCTION



To provide security technical engineering of the local and wide area network infrastructure, and the associated hardware and software components that comprise the security infrastructure as a whole. The incumbent will also provide network engineering functions on an as needed basis as well.



NATURE AND SCOPE


The incumbent will be given limited direction from the manager in engineering and maintaining a reliable, efficient, and appropriately sized security infrastructure to support the security needs and must be able to manage high profile global security related projects and assist network engineers with network projects. The incumbent is responsible for many global projects including Intrusion Detection/Prevention, firewall administration and implementation, and securing host systems against external and internal exploits. The incumbent will take a leadership role in providing technical assistance and troubleshooting support for the security infrastructure and the network as well. The incumbent is responsible for remaining up-to-date on all current infrastructure threats to an enterprise including viruses, Denial of Service attacks, information theft, and any new compromises to the internal security architecture globally.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES (CONTINUE TO BACK OR SECOND SHEET IF NEEDED)


1. Provide a leadership role for technical support in maintaining, tuning, and extending the security infrastructure as required by the needs of the business.


2. Perform detailed security audits and make recommendations to management to improve internal and external security.


3. Identify and evaluate potential security related software packages and hardware which can be used in monitoring and troubleshooting the security infrastructure.


4. Regularly evaluate security matrices and our security preparedness against the latest global threats to ensure the firm is not compromised or breached in any way.


5. Report to management daily regarding the Company's susceptibility/vulnerability to viruses and other security risks. Assume a leadership role in troubleshooting network and connectivity problems.


6. Perform other tasks as requested by management.
