More information about this job: Overview: Canon USA is seeking a marketing manager who will report to the national marketing executive of the Broadcast & Communication Division.
Responsibilities: This position entails responsibility for a broad range of marketing projects that support the selling activities of the five BCTV U.S. regional sales offices and the Latin American region. Responsibilities include: • Close collaboration with the BCTV National Marketing Executive in the annual development of sales/marketing strategies tailored to the year's business aspirations and sales budget. • Development of specific marketing strategies and comprehensive implementation action plans for the entire product categories of BCTV to support their sales growth within the different market sectors served. This must take into account all competitive dynamics, new industry trends, identified special customer needs, new products from Canon Inc., and ongoing feedback from the BCTV sales force. • Continuing market research that tracks changes in the market sectors served by BCTV, compilation of associated data bases, and translation of this composite information into projected product quantities over 3-year mid-range planning intervals • Close coordination with the assigned activities of the external Marcomm Group (BCTV PR and marketing Services) relating to advertising, press releases, trade magazine product stories and articles, Flash e-mails on products, Product CD-ROMs, white papers etc. • Ongoing coordination with Canon corporate and IT on our BCTV website to ensure continuing freshness of all information • Close cooperation with Corporate Communications Division (and Legal when necessary) to ensure all appropriate approvals of marketing materials • Diligent direction of the BCTV Marketing assistant to ensure sustained implementation of all marketing activities. • Oversight of the implementation of specific sales/marketing strategies - tailored to the identified sales region sales quota and identified market sectors - within each of the five BCTV sales regions and Latin America • Development of unique marketing strategies in support of the launch of each year's new products. This must entail special preparations for the various BCTV annual sales meetings, strategic trade show exhibitions, preparation of collateral etc. • Detailed competitive analysis on an annual basis and preparation of related collateral support material for distribution to the BCTV sales force. • Development of targeted action plans for strategic exhibition of all BCTV products at the major annual National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention. This includes working closely with the contracted Exhibit designers, Camera OEMs, Accessory suppliers, Canon's CIG, and CCD • Preparation of demo tapes, and other related collateral, is also important. • Coordination with all five regions on preparation and implementation of regional trade shows and industry meetings (SBE, STE, SMPTE etc). • Preplanning, coordination and provision of "hand-on" assistance to the five sales regions for all identified strategic product evaluations, competitive shootouts, and related customer presentations. • Development of training programs for the regional sales force on all key products, with a special emphasis on the new products introduced annually. This should include appropriate informational material, demo scripts, and actual "hands-on" workshops. • Assistance in the creation of articles for publication (on Canon product utilization), formal presentations to industry events and meetings, Customer and Camera OEM Open Houses • Development of innovative marketing and sales strategies to cultivate new BCTV business within Government, Religious organizations, educational institutions, and also Business, Industrial, and Corporate entities.
Qualifications: The candidate we are seeking will possess a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of Marketing and/or Product Management experience (broadcast and/or television program origination industries is desirable). Incumbent will also have experience working with marketing services that include advertising, market planning, copywriting, public relations, web design and hosting, and video production. Additionally, will have experience in assembling and analyzing customer data and knowledge of leveraging the internet to support more scientific marketing initiatives. Knowledge of optics (technical or operational) is desirable but not required. Must have strong communication skills.
