We are currently seeking anAssociate Director/Directorof Clinical Researchto join Merck Research Laboratories within ourMetabolism Therapeutic Department. The position will be based in our Rahway, NJ site, approximately twenty miles southwest of New York City. The successful candidate will lead Clinical Research activities in support of late stage drug development. This includes all phases of clinical development, including study design, study placement, study monitoring and concern for the protection of human subjects participating in clinical trials. Additionally, this person will be responsible for the analysis and summary of clinical findings from studies for the purpose of decisions regarding safety and efficacy to support new drug submissions, new drug applications or clinical experience reports, as well as serving as a member of appropriate research project teams.

Qualifications The position requires: * An M.D or M.D./Ph.D, plus Board Certification or Eligibility is preferred. Ph.D with substantial post-doctoral experience will also be considered. Must have experience in industry or academia. * Demonstrated record of scientific scholarship and achievement. * A proven track record in clinical medicine and background in biomedical research is essential. * Prior specific experience in clinical research and prior publication is desirable but not necessary. * Strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to function in a team environment are essential.
