Description: System Operator Electric Location Corporate Headquarters - Newark NJ (0014) Job Function Service / Operations No. of Positions 1 Job Description Monitor, control and coordinate the operation of the Bulk Electric System in accordance with the PJM agreement. Direct Bulk Electric System switching and tagging. Follow all PSE&G Safety Rules and procedures as the Transmission System Tagging Authority. Implement emergency procedures up to and including load shedding to maintain system reliability. Implement the PSE&G system restoration plan in response to a system interruption. Exercise mature judgment and broad knowledge of Bulk Electric System principles and practices. Continuously monitor the status of all Transmission Facilities while optimizing the voltage profile of the Bulk Electric System. Directs and performs non-routine specialized analysis prior to, and following all directions for switching of the Bulk Electric System. Perform real-time Security Analysis of the Bulk Electric System. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet managements expectations for effective internal business controls. Requirements: .High School diploma .Must successfully complete the System Operator/Power Dispatcher pre-placement test. .Must have the ability to communicate effectively; exercise independent action, judgment and risk management; act decisively; and interact effectively with all Transmission System customers. .Must understand and adhere to the Standards of Conduct as described in FERC Order 889, FERC Order 2004 and Data Confidentiality. Agreements. .Expertise in either, Transmission, Generation, or Distribution Operations, System Relay Protection and/or Station Mechanical Skills. .Technical knowledge of Electric Power Systems. .Must work 12 hour rotating shifts. .Demonstrated ability in inquisitiveness, decisiveness, judgment, positive attitude and teamwork. .Must have the ability to successfully complete the PJM Initial Training Program for System Operators and become PJM Certified within 24 months of becoming qualified as a System Operator. .Must be available to respond for emergency and relief assignments. Desirable: .B.S. in Engineering or Technology .Security Analysis experience, and real time operational experience including Substation/Generation/Relay skills.
