Description: Athletic Trainer Job Category: Healthcare Business Unit: Location: Newark NJ Job Type: Regular Employment Type: Per Diem Wed Sep 03 14:32:27 EDT 2008 Concentra is seeking to hire a Certified Athletic Trainer to work on a PRN basis in Newark, NJ. This opportunity will be working in our on-site Industrial Medical Clinic, in our clients facility, in the area to provide back fill and additional support to our full time ATC in the location. Qualified candidates will have good customer service, communication and computer skills. Previous industrial experience is not required. JOB SUMMARY: Performs duties in assessing, preventing, recognizing, managing and rehabilitating injuries that result from physical injuries under the advice, consent, and prescription of a physician, in accordance with Concentra Medical Centers Injury Process Management and Concentra Medical Centers philosophy of rehabilitation in occupational medicine. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Utilizes appropriate, sound and up-to-date clinical techniques to effectively assess and treat injuries. Assists physical therapist in the treatment of patients with sports or orthopedic conditions referred for rehabilitation. Assists with the implementation of the treatment plan prescribed by the Physical Therapist. Provides input as to the fitness and conditioning status of patients. Completes all training documentation in a timely manner. Coordinates pre and post participation exams. Provides patient education in the area of sports injury prevention and care. Applies protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces to body parts. Collaborate with physicians in order to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for injuries. Massage body parts in order to relieve soreness, strains, and bruises. Recommend special diets in order to improve athletes health, increase their stamina, and/or alter weight. Performs other duties as assigned. TO APPLY: Visit
www.concentra.com/careers EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS: Bachelors degree (minimum; Masters preferred but not required) Certified Athletic Trainer (NATA BOC certification; current & in good standing) Current CPR/AED certification JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: Five years clinical experience with or without occupational health background JOB-RELATED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: Demonstrate the ability to work independently and reliably Demonstrate skills at documenting and recording information Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills Demonstrate judgment and decision making skills Demonstrate instructing skills to teach others Demonstrate therapy and counseling knowledge Demonstrate knowledge of human behavior, biomechanics and performance Demonstrate ability to speak effectively to convey information to supervisors, peers, and employees.
