Description: Responsible for the operation, maintenance and compliance monitoring of industrial wastewater treatment facilities. Essential Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 1. Performs extensive field screening tests and must be familiar with monitoring equipment such as pH meters, photo-ionization detectors, flame ionization detectors and other similar equipment and practices. 2. Prepares weekly inspection and operating reports and related reports such as discharge monitoring reports as required. 3. Perform equipment maintenance and repair such as oil changes, grease bearings, change filters and separators. 4. Perform minor electrical repairs. 5. Perform monitoring of electrical equipment. 6. Driving to multiple sites in any given day. 7. Oversee sub-contractor work when necessary. 6. Observes, reads and interprets instrumentation and gauges and participates in operational control investigative analyses for the efficient operation of the treatment facility. 7. Operates all equipment and ancillary apparatus associated with the treatment facility. 8. Collect environmental samples (e.g. groundwater, surface water, waste water, soil, sludge or other wastes) to determine the extent and magnitude of contamination. This may require the carrying of sampling equipment (e.g. generators, pumps, shovels, etc.) to remote locations. Additional Responsibilities: Performs other duties as may be required. Qualification Requirements: - Experience in the operation and maintenance of industrial wastewater treatment plants. Primarily air strippers, activated carbon and catalytic oxidizers. - Experience with equipment operation, maintenance and repair. Equipment consists of blowers, centrifugal pumps, air compressors, and catalytic oxidizers. - Working knowledge of basic electrical monitoring equipment such as volt meter and amp clamp. - Experience with collection of water and air samples for field and laboratory analysis. - Prefer New Jersey industrial wastewater treatment operators license N-2. - OSHA 40 hr HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120) is a bonus but not required. - Basic computer skills with Word and Excel.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in confined, precarious places, in high traffic areas, and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, vibration and moderate noise.
