Purpose and Scope: The incumbent in this position supports the capital management process and continuous improvement of the process through financial analysis, reporting, and collaboration.
Responsibilities for the Financial Analyst are as follows:
Independently analyzes financial data supporting capital projects and business cases to ensure viability, validity, accuracy and completeness.
Employs understanding of retail / wholesale business operations to collaborate with divisions in creating financial models that enable pre and post project analysis and lease vs. buy analysis, assists in preparation of business cases and supporting financial analysis.
Analyzes capital portfolio, and economic and operating environments to develop and validate basis for divisional hurdle rates, risk adjusted rates of return, and works with strategic planning group to validate cost of capital.
Performs special analysis prepares reports and makes recommendations regarding the capital portfolio performance.
Assists in the development of automated solutions for capital management reporting, including monthly forecasts, variance analysis and project database creation to enable strategic capital management.
Utilizes technology applications experience to assist in identifying solutions to measure and assess whether financial objectives are met.
Maintains financial reports and created solutions for the analysis of information, and proactively recommends changes and solutions to meet evolving capital reporting needs.
Maintains process for tracking project approvals, establishes approved projects in the Lawson system.
Serves as a financial resource in providing information to divisions on capital management processes and performance.
Uses knowledge of fixed asset accounting to support the accounting team by providing timely information and analysis, including Lawson data definitions and reporting, depreciation analysis and providing relevant capital reporting elements.
Provides input on policies and procedures over capital management.
Job Requirements for the financial analyst role are as follows:
BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA is a plus and at least 5 years of progressive financial analysis experience, including operating and capital budget management and management reporting.
Must be proficient in all MS Office applications, with advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Must have working knowledge of capital project tracking/reporting systems and Hyperion, knowledge of Lawson Financial is a plus.
The candidate must also have sound business process knowledge and demonstrated abilities in applying business/financial principles.
Strong analytic abilities are required, supported by demonstrated operating and capital budgeting experience.
Knowledge of intermediate finance and accounting concepts with strong financial analysis and modeling skills.
Ability to make and support financial recommendations utilizing common financial metrics, including lease analysis, ROI, IRR, etc.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required along with the ability to influence, and demonstrate confidence in communications with senior level management.
Must have the ability to manage conflict.
The candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently, to resolve problems with limited information, and able to manage multiple assignments.
Knowledge and familiarity of apparel industry and/or technology operations is a plus.
