Description The Safety Representative is responsible for being a safety leader.The Safety Representative will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and implementing Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) management programs to ensure compliance in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations including Process Safety Management (PSM). This position provides technical safety support for refining operations, engineering, and maintenance staff. Responsibilities The Safety Representative may be responsible for: * Being a safety leader and developing other safety leaders * Implementing a zero incident culture at the site * Proactively supporting and leading HSE initiatives that support the business * Continuously developing knowledge of federal and state regulations and HSE Management Systems * Consultation with production and maintenance personnel regarding work practices and safety standards, conducting various surveys and hazards assessments, and participating in assigned team planning meetings * Reviewing, updating, or developing safety and health programs and standards/guidelines such as: personal protective equipment, respiratory protection, fall prevention, energy isolation, and hazard communication * Participate in routine and ad hoc Production/Maintenance Team meetings to demonstrate visibility, support, and offer guidance for safety activities * Participate in PSM related activities such as MOC review, PHA and PSUSR as warranted * Identify trends and recommend actions related to safety improvement activities based upon various data sources such as the site incident and action item tracking tool (IMPACT) and team audits/walk-throughs * Assist in implementing safety policies and procedures, company standards and regulations, and evaluating compliance * Develop and present safety training for refinery groups and contractors * Provide turnaround and project support/coverage * Participate and/or lead incident investigations * Defining training objectives and develop for Safety training course content, format, and presentation methods.
