Description: INSPECTOR TRAINEE Location: Linden, NJ, US Ref #: R-313-08 Duties and Responsibilities: SUMMARY: Performs routine inspection work in petroleum and petrochemical terminals and refineries; also performs inspection work on board barges and ships following industry standards and the procedures published and distributed by Saybolt. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for learning measurement and sampling activities. Maintain written records (tally book, responsible for learning field reports). Provide scheduler, assistant manager, and/or manager with timely information concerning onsite problems. Responsible for completing job assignments in accordance with Saybolt and customer guidelines and instructions. Able to work simple transfer by the end of probation period (i.e. barges, tank to tank transfers, sampling, etc.). Spend one week in nearest laboratory. GENERAL ACTIVITIES: Attend Saybolts Safety Orientation prior to performing any field/laboratory activity. Wear beeper/pager at all times when on duty. Attend monthly safety meetings. Attend Saybolts basic Inspectors School. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School diploma and/or equivalent with emphasis on arithmetic. No prior training required. One to three months work experience with a service oriented organization. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Exhibit professional appearance and attitude. Good communication skills at all levels. To act in harmony with fellow employees. OTHER: 90 day probation period.
