Description: Position Title Director Clinical Research - Gastroenterology / Immunology Business Division Research Institute Country U.S.A. Location NJ Kenilworth Job Description Provide technical and medical input within the Therapeutic Area. Serve as primary contact with and provide therapeutic area expertise to other departments within Global Clinical Development (Clinical Operations, Biostatistics, Data Management, etc) and within Schering-Plough (Marketing, Business Development and Licensing, etc). Participate in the design, development, implementation and conduct of clinical trials, especially monitoring of safety for investigational compounds (Phase II/III). Serve as coordinating author for protocols and protocol amendments. Oversee global Phase II/III/IV clinical studies and ensure studies are conducted in accordance with protocol requirements to meet global and regional plans. Interpret and synthesize study results and deliver key messages for study reports/submissions. Contribute to regulatory submission documentation, including NDA and Safety reports, to ensure alignment with global and regional product strategy and therapy area strategy. Participate on cross-functional project teams and clinical development and study teams. Facilitate protocol and disease-specific training. Actively contribute to the growth of the therapeutic area franchise and establish a leadership position for Schering-Plough in the Therapeutic Area. Identify, develop, maintain and leverage global investigator/key opinion leader relationships. Participate with Medical Communication Specialists in the development of publications and slide sets and other materials for the timely, accurate and effective dissemination of information regarding drug product and care. Participate in presentations of data to different levels of clinicians, investigators and opinion leaders. Knowledge of study management and data interpretation is desirable, as are project management, organization, interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills. The ability to work both independently and in a matrix system is essential. Approximately 20%% global travel. Minimal education required for this job Medical Doctor (M.D.) Skills Requirements: . Ideal candidate will offer an MD from an accredited institution with Board Certification / Eligibility in Gastroenterology. . 2-5 yrs in the US pharmaceutical industry with experience in global drug development - . OR - strong clinical experience with Crohns and /or Colitis and clinical trial experience in a hospital or academic setting. . Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications. . Ability to oversee and direct multiple projects with varying complexity involving multiple skill levels in a matrix environment.
