Description Technical Specialist — Data Modeler

Size and scope: This position is to fulfill a need in the Global Information Warehouse’s (GIW) Data Modeling Team, part of GIW Shared Services. GIW services the entire Global Transaction Services (GTS) division within Capital Markets and Banking (CMB). Roles and responsibilities: The role required is a Data Modeler responsible for design and maintenance of Logical and Physical data models for GIW, a centralized information repository that is a critical database asset for GTS. The role requires working with several development efforts and their teams. Team size and locations: The GIW team is approximately 130 people globally, with offices in the US, UK, and India. The person will be working in Jersey City in the Shared Services team which consists of 15 people. Reporting structure: The candidate will report directly to the Project Manager of Shared Services team. Interaction with other divisions: The candidate will interact primarily with teams within the Global Information Warehouse and CitiDirect (Corporate Online Services) Areas. Job Responsibilities: Main Purpose of the Role: To provide data modeling services to the various development effort within GIW. Modeling Tasks Include: Designing a Conceptual Model Designing a Logical Model Designing a Physical Model Gathering Capacity Requirements Assist in developing a Data Access Plan Reviewing Data Access Plan This role also includes responsibilities related to Metadata Management and Integration and to some extent, Database Environment Planning. The Data Modeler will also work closely with development groups in the testing and implementation phases of the projects. Goals and Objectives: The key goal is provide services to developments groups in their efforts to deliver effective business solutions. An equally important goal is to ensure and defend the integrity of the GIW database design through the definition and enforcement of standards and best practices. Key relationships(internal/external customers, vendors, etc.): The person will need to build strong relationships within the GIW team and several technology stakeholder groups within GTS. Specifications / Qualifications Job Qualifications 3 to 7 years data modeling experience with specific experience in: * Oracle * Data Warehouses * Structured Query Language * Dimensional Modeling Experience with Large Data Warehouse updated in “Near Real Time” Experience in the Financial Services Industry
