Summary Description: Reporting to the E&C Audits & Monitoring Director, this role is responsible for conducting "scope of service" independence audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Scope of service independence exceptions present a very significant risk for the Firm, and can result in the loss of clients/revenue, actions by regulators, and damage to reputation. Manage the Scope of Service Independence Audits/Monitoring function, including: Overall management of all scope of service independence audits and monitoring Review preparation of audit reports for leadership Perform detailed testing for scope of service audits Train team members on scope of service policies and procedures Establish and track performance goals Coaching and Development Actively and consistently coach team members throughout the year Identify opportunities for development for team members and set performance plans to address needs Support Firm initiatives regarding coaching, and proactively guide team members regarding PC&D policies, procedures, and timeframes Work with Director to set team and individual performance goals, and actively manage and monitor individuals and the team Continuous/Process Improvement Identify and drive implementation of process and system improvements Define additional aspects of testing to build a comprehensive scope of service audit function Strategic & Technical Orientation / Job Content: This role requires an understanding of scope of service independence procedures and extensive knowledge of the Firms operations and finance systems This role will need to find existing Firm tools that can be leveraged to support the testing of scope of service compliance, and determine how to incorporate those tools This role will assess whether there are additional tools that are needed in order to assess the compliance with scope of service policies This role will be responsible for determining the root causes of exceptions to the independence procedures and for defining and driving the implementation of creative solutions to address those exceptions This role will have responsibility for management, coaching, and development of the team Range of Impact: This role will work with leaders within and outside of E&C to determine appropriate tests to perform to assess compliance with scope of service policies and procedures, will recommend solutions to address the root causes of scope of service independence exceptions, and will participate in driving the implementation of those solutions. This role will be responsible for building the team and the scope of testing to ensure a comprehensive audit that mitigates the significant risk posed by potential scope of service independence exceptions. Scope of responsibility: This role will lead a team that performs a xLOS, national compliance function that addresses a key independence risk area. The decisions of this role will impact strategic objectives of the US firm on a long-term basis. Given the national scope of this role and the significant ramifications of scope of service exceptions, this role will be responsible for mitigating a sizable risk exposure for the US firm.
