Hartz Mountain, the leading consumer packaged goods company in pet supplies, is currently seeking results oriented Director of Distribution and Logistics at our distribution center located in Jersey City, NJ.

Position Summary: This position is responsible for building and overseeing a world class distribution/logistics function for the Corporation. The position is responsible for ensuring timely and cost effective distribution of products to domestic and international customers. The position supports Hartz? mission, vision and values, and the incumbent is expected to exhibit excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, commitment to community, and accountability. REQUIRED SKILLS Principle Responsibilities: ? Primary responsibility for all warehousing, and distribution logistics service providers. ? Oversee all distribution/logistics operations in the USA and International: ? -St Thomas, Canada ? Jersey City, NJ ? Pleasant Plain, OH ? -Logansport, IN ? 3P Logistics Providers ? Chief strategist for world class product flow from Hartz to customer, from suppliers to Hartz. ? Direct/approve contracts with service providers and labor for distribution/transportation. ? Develop, report and monitor metrics for distribution, warehousing, and transportation. ? Ensure the consistent, high-quality, timely, and cost-effective distribution of products; establish distribution OTIF methods and efficient customer response measures in an environment of continuous improvement. ? Develop and execute strategic and tactical operational plans for the Company and its distribution facilities. ? Ensure compliance of distribution operations with Company policy, and Federal, state and local regulations. ? Manage the FG inventory and participate in inventory reduction initiatives with Planning and Finance. ? Drive the development and implementation of operations and logistics strategies that will support Hartz mission, goals and objectives. ? Develop employees at all levels of the organization to foster teamwork and involvement. ? Be member of SC Leadership Team. ? Establish effective communications with executives and managers across the Company, and ensure the sharing of information with internal Hartz groups.

Education and Experience: Bachelor Degree, Masters Degree preferred (Logistics, technical discipline or equivalent).

Experience/Skills: ? A minimum of 15 years of proven logistics experience and success with a consumer product goods distribution environment, with multiple distribution facilities. ? Strong understanding of world class logistics and efficiency concepts. ? A proven track record of success in logistics management positions. ? Experience managing multiple site operations. ? Experience with a union environment. ? Excellent time management, communications, decision-making, human relations, and organization skills are needed. ? Business leadership and management ability at the executive level including effective team building skills, organizational and staff development. ? Willingness and ability to accept responsibility, take calculated risks and stimulate new ideas within the organization. ? Strong oral and written communication skills. ? Dynamic, creative, and smart leader with unlimited energy and vision. ? Ability to thrive on challenge, foster an environment of collaboration and mentoring, and influence the most senior executive audiences. ? Ability to create and communicate a compelling vision for Logistics that is embraced by the balance of the organization as it evolves and continues to grow. ? Experience with implementing a third party logistics network.
