Our client, a well respected financial brokerage firm, is seeking an Analyst/Strategy for their Jersey City location. This exciting position offers exposure to higher level management and has unlimited growth potential.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: As a member of the Institutional Strategy and Reporting group, the Business Analyst will be responsible for integrating an understanding of the companys internal databases, external data sources, and financial statement knowledge to provide fact-based MIS to senior executives and respond to ad-hoc analytical requests. This role will achieve successful results through partnering with business line managers, internal functional areas such as marketing, finance and other members of Institutional Strategy team. As a key member to the Institutional Strategy and Reporting team, this role will have immediate involvement in the growth and establishment of department practices and efficiencies. In addition, the Business Analyst will also have the opportunity to interact with senior managers across the organization and focus on the some of the most important issues through advanced analytic and report production. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide business and technical expertise in developing and performing data analysis and reporting in a database or excel environment. Support standard reporting, ad-hoc analysis requests, and self-initiated data mining and querying Consolidate and enhance the suite of executive management reports Assume ownership of production responsibilities associated with reporting from the current environment Interpret research and report data and findings for useful, value added input Derive business intelligence from Lead follow-up analysis requests and work with internal partners to improve reporting data quality Identify research and reporting redundancies and recommend actions for efficiency improvement Provide leadership in data-related discussions with senior staff from various areas of the organization e.g., Technology, Finance, LOB Perform activities related to research, analysis and reporting of internal data and external competitive intelligence data Assist with the development and establishment of analysis tools, report utilization and distribution of reporting for the Institutional group Identify and report on other key revenue and expense key performance metrics as needed. Experience: QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Management Information Systems or related business equivalent. Advanced analytical ability to interpret large quantities of data and structure follow-up analysis. Proven creativity and resourcefulness in uncovering unusual sources for secondary data in support of analytic Three to five years of experience in the financial services industry including knowledge of significant markets, major competitors, current trends and patterns of behavior. Excellent communication and project management skills; capacity to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously Advanced analysis skills and extensive experience with the following applications/languages: Excel, MS Access, and SQL. Knowledge of Business Objects or VBA a plus Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. Visio knowledge a plus DESIREABLE SKILLS: Must be able to make decisions and resolve problems using experience and professional judgment Ability to provide advice or analysis regarding quantitative data and trends with confidence Knowledge and experience with processes/sources used to conduct research. Knowledge and experience with statistical and quantitative methods of analysis. The main function of this position will involve manipulating financial data from back office reports onto Excel for higher level management. Vlookups and Macros very important.
