Responsibilities RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include ensuring equipment and human resources are fully utilized by providing superior customer service, employee effectiveness and cost control in a safe, professional manner through effective management and leadership of a group of drivers. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required for interacting with company personnel, drivers and the general public in support of truck operations along with managing driver retention. This position will engage in driver safety meetings, quarterly training and ensuring driver compliance. Responsible for trip planning for delivery of freight and bills of lading as well as assisting drivers in trip planning to ensure timely delivery of freight with minimum mileage variances. A working knowledge of federal, state, and city laws as well as knowledge of DOT regulations are required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to operate a computer Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time Work variable schedules and hours as the job position dictates Ability to read, understand, and relay information relating to trip planning Ability to read and use a road atlas, city maps, and other geographical documents QUALIFICATIONS: 4 year college degree, 3 years previous relevant management/supervisory experience, or 3 years prior experience with JB Hunt.
