Analyzes and investigates complex and variable technical problems related to advanced product design or current projects requiring specialized technical talents, abilities or experience. Has responsibility for "state of the art" development tasks which may include the technical direction and guidance of a number of engineers in the accomplishment of the tasks; presents and discusses concepts and methods to be utilized in contributing to technical project development. Apprises cognizant supervision of the status of assigned operations and conditions im-peding accomplishment; prepares and presents activity reports and priority schedules to define actual and projected status of assigned duties. Prepares technical reports for written and oral presentation before management, scientific or technical audiences; conducts liaison with customers, as required, to identify and resolve technical and scientific problems of an unusual or highly complex nature, Remains aware of new and diversified developments within areas of specialization; recommends application of recent innovations to current or projected research and develop-ment endeavors, with appropriate substantiation. Studies customer requirements pertaining to specialized areas of competence; participates in preproposal and proposal efforts to satisfy these requirements; provides advice and counsel during the design phase; serves as a consultant to engineering personnel on specialized technical matters during dealings with customers. Briefs engineering personnel on advances in the state-of-the-art and the potential ap-plication of such innovations. Perform related duties or special projects, as directed. Experience Requirements: MS in Engineering or BS in Engineering with specific applicable experience to be equivalent to the MS degree. At least 12 years or a demonstrable competence in a specialized field of science or technology. Advanced scientific and technical concepts, advanced mathematics and the application of these concepts to electronics design and development.
