Description: QA Supplier Engineer DESCRIPTION Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer

Hartz Mountain, the leading consumer packaged goods company in pet supplies, is currently seeking results oriented Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer to help develop and execute our aggressive growth initiatives. The position is located in Bloomfield, NJ.

Responsibilities: Coordinate Supplier quality activities to ensure Hartz suppliers provide materials and services which meet or exceed defined requirements. Ensure effective internal/external communication of supplier results/performance to Supply Management, external supplier, R&D, and Operations (inclusive of Procurement, Supply Chain personnel). Provide Quality Assurance guidance/leadership to define problems/issues, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action plans related to supplier improvement initiatives/activities using statistical techniques & Six-Sigma/Lean methods (as applicable). Assist in the process involved in the identification of new suppliers or new products working with existing suppliers. Implementation and reinforcement of supplier quality principles to Hartz employees, suppliers, contracted distribution and transportation providers are also included with in the scope of this position. Monitor supplier quality and overall performance by compiling and evaluating data related to supplier nonconforming material reports, quality related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), corrective/preventive action responses and root-cause investigations in order to develop effective actionable information. Assist in resolving supplier related issues through on-site process inspections, conducting material investigations and verifying the overall effectiveness of supplier corrective/preventive initiatives/actions. Assist in both the preparation and execution of audit activities associated with on-site supplier audits per HMCs evaluation criteria. Provide recommendations to improve overall supplier performance and the quality of product/services provided to HMC. Verification related to proposed corrective/preventive action effectiveness is mandatory. Respond and address issues related to the supplier and HMC Mfg. facility(s) by providing technical support and working with the supplier to improve product/material quality. Participate or lead project teams (as applicable) to effectively manage changes resulting in the improvement of supplier performance and material/product quality. Assist in the compilation, evaluation, organization and control of all applicable documentation required for the effective management of the HMC Supplier Quality Assurance Program. REQUIRED SKILLS Willing to Travel 20 ? 30%% Strong interpersonal skills. Effective organizational, written and oral communication skills are critical for this position. Experience in resolving supplier related quality issues involving various material/products in a manufacturing environment is beneficial. The candidate must have a strong technical background and possess technical problem solving abilities w/self confidence in addition to technical software skills (Excel, Visio, Mini Tab, Word, Power Point, etc.). Technical knowledge across broad industrial scope very valuable.
