Description: Directs all Quality and Process Engineering activities including the implementation of the ISO 9001 Quality Standard and the development of manufacturing processes for customer products. Provides technical support to internal and external customers. With plant management, identifies, prioritizes, plans, develops, coordinates and executes high impact process improvements and projects to improve product quality. * Coordinates Quality Assurance Department programs including final testing, incoming and final inspection, and calibration. Responsible for physical laboratory and related equipment. Supervises process engineer and quality system specialist. * Designs and implements the ISO Quality System. Develops Quality Objectives, prepares plant for 3rdparty audits, and organizes semi-annual Management Review Meetings. Participates in the supplier approval and review process. Coordinates corrective action program to address internal and external deficiencies. * Supervises and participates in creating routings used to manufacture products to customer requirements, develops purchase specifications for raw materials, works closely with Sales when reviewing and providing feedback on customer specifications. * Take active leadership role in product development initiatives. Interact with sales and marketing, customers, raw material and equipment suppliers, and manufacturing to select opportunities for product development. Coordinate process trials, testing, and evaluation orders in order to obtain customer feedback and approval. * Heads technical support effort to address customer related concerns and supplier quality issues; troubleshoots plant manufacturing and quality problems. Investigates and responds to customer complaints and implements corrective actions. Takes leadership role in Continuous Improvement program to reduce scrap and improve process efficiency. * Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science, metallurgical background preferred. * Seven years experience in manufacturing environment with supervisory or management experience. * 5 years quality management/analysis experience. * Greenbelt. * Training and experience in the ISO 9001 Quality Standard, certification as lead or internal auditor. * Knowledge and skill in using a variety of computer software, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications. * Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skill in following safety practices and recognizing hazards. * Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, customers, suppliers, and the general public. * Skill in handling and prioritizing multiple projects and preparing and maintaining accurate records, reports and files. Criteria/Conditions(specific background and skills) * Work is performed in an office setting or manufacturing plant setting. Required to wear personal protective equipment in accordance with Freeport-McMoRan policies and practices (including but not limited to hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear and other PPE as determined to protect the individual). * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, stoop, walk, sit, reach, demonstrate manual dexterity, talk, hear and see. * Occasionally may be required to lift light to moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.
