Description: Department Supervisors train, coach and develop associates in each department to ensure customers receive excellent service and can easily find the merchandise they need. In addition they provide valuable input in to merchandising decisions to the Store Management Team, Freight Team Associates and Inventory Management Associates. Department Supervisors have strong product knowledge and the ability to lead and develop others. A Department Supervisor in the Paint department should have product knowledge that includes, but is not limited to the following areas: Ability to identify and explain different types of paint (i.e. premium vs. economy), ability to identify and explain different paint finishes (i.e. flat, satin, eggshell, and semi-gloss), ability to explain and demonstrate faux and decorative finishes, various painters tools including paint sprayers, power washers, edgers, rollers, and brushes and ability to explain the different uses of adhesives, solvents, and caulks. A Sales Associate in the Paint department will also use various equipment and machinery to match and mix paint.
