Use what applies. Bulk is more important if it's a bulk mailing;
"unsolicited commercial" is more important if it's not a bulk mailing.

Political spam is not commercial in nature, but it's still spam. Bulk is more
important than commercial. IMHO of course.

Doc, while the OP has generated a useful thread (at least useful if some
people learn that "bulk" is not a necessary component of spam) I
nominate your reply to OP as the best for its
candid-while-being-accurate nature. :)

Spammers.

Spambots on owned machines. That's why you have to keep your apps
updated and use counter measures to stop the bots from registering.

Yes, it's called a router. Block all the IPs from even seeing your
web site. Start with China and Brazil. Add places like Layered
Technologies that seem to have being a spammer/hacker as a prerequisite
for becoming a customer.

At the risk of seeming to have mis-understood the whole blogging
thing, it seems to me that blogs are just elevated diaries which give
visitors the chance to add their thoughts(?) to a particular theme
chosen from time to time. You have so many diferent topics I would
have thought you'd be better off with a bulletin board / discussion
forum / whatever you want to call them. I run several of these and
have never found them lacking anything essential a blog can offer.

Spam has absolutely nothing to do with quantity. Spam is about
permission. If you have a genuinely opt-in list of a million
subscribers, then sending them all an email is not spam. If you have a
harvested list of ten addresses, then sending them all an email is
spam.
