  Printing Overlapping Transparent Layers

Author: Chuck Anderson
Date: May 17, 2008 12:11

I'm not sure where to best ask this question, but I'm going to start
here since this is all about making it easy for people to print charts
that are on my web site. I've had this problem for some time and have
finally gotten around to creating a simple test page to demonstrate.

Basically, when I create a page that overlays 4 divs on top of each
other, the top three having a transparent background image (a single
sinusoid), neither Firefox or Opera print it properly. The page preview
looks like it will print okay, but the actual print shows only the
topmost layer.

Internet Explorer, on the other hand, prints it correctly (when Print
backgrounds is enabled).

check here: http://cycletourist.com/temp/
and see: "Print Transparent Layers Test "

I'm wondering why these browsers don't get it right ... and trying to
figure out a way to make my technique for overlaying three curves on a
grid be printable in all, if not the most common browsers.

Any ideas?

  Someone needs a webmaster...

Hi, all,

Take a look at http://www.nationalsportswear.com and let me know what
you think (no, I have no relationship with the site - was just looking
or T-Shirt printing).

Then try to view their samples...

I wonder how much traffic they drive away with this website.

Domain spam and duplicate copy. Why does Google allow this?

Author: emarketinginthailand

It's a mystery to me how Google allows some sites to operate spam
directly under their noses!

Why Google places so much weight on domain names? When I look at the
search results, almost every time now there's a keyworded domain name,
most often hyphenated, at the top of the listings. I have a corporate
real estate client in Bangkok who wants more exposure to their
business, but I could never recommend using bangkokproperty.xyz to
them. It's unethical. So how do I compete on this search term when
four companies at the top are using this domain spam technique?

Second, I would like to comment on content duplication. Again one of
these companies, www.property-bangkok.com, has registered six
duplicate sites, with keyworded domains on all and is doing very well
on Google's listings.

But what about the real, corporate estate agencies that don't get a
look-in when the spammers have the support of the major engines?

  traffic without sales

Author: babi gendut

Hello,

I have a website: www.fasisi-antique-webstore.com. I try to sell
clocks and furnitures.

I have been monitoring for the past 3 months and I can see growing
traffic from month to month. But there are no sales.

I think there is something wrong with the way I communicate.

How should I improve?

Sincerely,

Babi Gendut

  "Trust Marks" are they significant?

Author: Pet - www.GymRatZ.co.uk
Date: May 15, 2008 11:19

Never considered "trust marks" as being significant with regards to how
potential customers take a web site, but having had the matter bought to my
attention today I am fishing around for other peoples views on them.

Personally as long as I can check out a business with a business address, phone
number etc then I am happy.

Trustmark companies claim figures like "77%% of shoppers will dump their cart if
there is no trustmark"

Any ideas on such matters, are they a valid marketing tool?

Cheers
Pete
