Let's examine a relatively recent phenomenon in presidential, if not
most all, U.S. elections.

Like John F. Kennedy's administration, the Reagan days were way
overblown in terms of actual accomplishment. In retrospect, JFK
committed impeachable offenses which today would have seen him frog-
marched out of office.

But Kennedy inaugurated the TV era of "the-best-looking-candidate-gets-
the-votes." American gals just could't picture swarthy, shillelagh-
nosed Richard Nixon licking their pussies; but they semi-secretly
imagined themselves going down on JFK. And they could almost see and
feel that pearl necklace! Ooooooo-yeah!

The essay forgets about the most important voting block - white men.

White men seldom vote with their brains, they use their emotions. They
voted for Reagan even though he was a bumbling idiot, but he made them
feel good about themselves and their country.

White men also knew Clinton was a ladies man and let's be
honest...everyone likes a ladies man.

If Romney can tap into the emotions that drive white men to the polls he
has a chance but so far he's an empty suit who bounces around on the
issues so much he makes Kerry look like the Rock of Gibraltar.

Obama will be the next president - because he's cute enough for the
ladies and he makes white men feel good about themselves. Don't forget,
white men don't care about facts or winning debates - Bush lost all the
debates with Gore and Kerry and they still voted for him. White men
don't even require their candidate to be successful. Reagan blew a hole
in the budget the size of the Grand Canyon and he won 49 states. Bush
screwed up the budget, screwed up on 911, screwed up in Iraq and lied
about WMD and white men still voted for him.
