I hope I don't get scolded for bringing up a topic that has been
discussed before, but when I think back on hardships of being an
infantryman in Vietnam, I think of water. Especially on a day like
today, when it is just about 100 degrees where I am at. We carried an
average of about 7 quarts of water. Its funny as I'm writing this some
fire fighters came in the store and asked for a donation of water and
ice, as two fire fighters are suffering from the heat while trying to
put out a fire in the mountain. There are lots of things you must
know to be a good soldier, but if you don't carry plenty of water, and
ammo, you may be a liability to your unit.

Hi Tom,
Seems to me every post is subject to criticism except those in the
eternally redundant and nauseating DR and/or alphabet man threads.
Too bad we didn't have the water purifiers used by hikers these days.
They would have saved a lot of humping water.

I do. Where I live, clean air and water are readily available.

Who's this "we" person? I take good care of my property.
Besides, I don't care what happens after I'm gone.
