"Our generals are not worthy of their soldiers ..."

Thus writes a respected U.S. Army offficer about the way our generals
have "botched the war in Iraq and mis-led Congress about the situation
there," according to The Washington Post.

Obviously, the war in Iraq -- or Afghanistan for that matter -- have
produced no Eisenhowers, no Ridgways, no Schwarzkopfs, no McCaffreys
of which United States citizens -- and soldiers -- can be proud.

Lt. Col. Paul Yingling's article, "General Failure," is posted at
http://www.armedforcesjournal.com

Your White House war criminal incessantly states that our Democratic
Party-controlled Congress is trying "to do the job of our generals on
the ground."

I'd say if their performances thus far are any yardstick, those
"generals" definitely NEED stern guidance. Or better still, RELIEF!

Great post; thanks.

I'd already had intimations of all this as an Army PFC almost fifteen
years ago. No, I didn't know no generals or anything like that, but
even among the senior enlisted leadership I saw some things which
portended disaster down the road. That Yingling article really
brought back some memories. Far from the decisive, can-do Army
depicted in TV commercials, I found the civil service mentality, only
armed and dangerous.

It's still a great Army full of great people, but it doesn't take a
whole lot of assholes and kiss-asses to ruin it overall. When I see
these generals bullshitting while people are being lost due to their
cowardice, I feel vindicated in my decision to have left the service.
Fuck, if I wanted civvie pussy bullshit I could have stayed a
civilian.

Oh well. That's just life, Army or not.
