KABUL, Afghanistan - ISAF soldiers successfully disrupted insurgents
from planting an improvised explosive device today on a road in
Khogyani District, Nangarhar province.
KABUL, Afghanistan - Three days ago, Afghan National Army and ISAF
troops launched an operation to push Taliban insurgents out of
Arghandab district and secure the streets of Kandahar city. Today, the
citizens of Kandahar province can return to their normal life.
Some elements of Lebanon's Sunni community are preparing for a
confrontation with Hezbollah after the Shiite movement's seizure of
west Beirut and calls are heard in the north of the country for a new
resistance movement.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Afghan National Army and coalition forces killed
more than 15 insurgents yesterday in Kandahar province during a search
for escaped prisoners from Kandahar City, military officials said.
The European Union has voted to lift sanctions against Cuba, but says

Iran has withdrawn around $75 billion from Europe to prevent the

disputed nuclear ambitions, an Iranian weekly said.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United Kingdom will increase the number of
troops it contributes to the coalition effort in Afghanistan, British
Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced today.

bridges, schools and medical facilities to help the Afghan government
