The writer who talked about agencies like ours being affected by economic
recessions is exactly right. Not only did we lose very good applicants during
economic hiring freezes, during the last Bush recession in '91/'92 we lost most
of our corporate memory due to forced resignations in the immediate years
following Bush's ouster as we fought through economic recovery.

During the first Bush recession every agency was encouraged to get rid of its
highest paid senior people and replace them with kids who were making half the
pay of their predecessors. This was a very bad situation because, if some will
recall, this policy was continually pushed by the minority Republicans in
Congress (led by former Rep. Jack Kemp who was leading the Republican's "Shadow
Government" against Bill Clinton) who kept demanding and pushing that Clinton
"reduce the size of the federal government". We, and other agencies like FBI
lost hundreds of highly experienced agents and analysts... that resulted in the
wave of terrorist attacks and 9/11.

Because hundreds of superb people were off the payroll and replaced by ambitious
kids who thought they knew everything there was to know about LE and intell, but
didn't know squat, we were subject to countless...

You obvoiusdly do not know the definition of recession, or you would not
have made the stupid statement that during GHW Bush administration, we were
in one. There was nothing more than a slowdown in the economy, and slick
willie called it a recession, fooling all idiots like yourself, that voted
for him. Ronald Reagan's economic policies created the largest economic
expansions in the history of the USA, and GHW Bush extended it. All
economic cycles have up's and downs, that is what makes them "cycles".

As for the DEA in whole, their job is to stop the inflow of illegal drugs
into the usa and if your agency were paid for performance, like the CEO's of
corporations are, you would be working for nothing.

As for the rest of your horseshit opinions, they are not even worth
commenting on. Get an education, at a non-liberal institution, and perhaps
you will understand how the government and the economy actually function,
effectively. The ideal size government is one with not one employ more
than required to do the job. The democrat version, is full employment
(everyone working for the government). Which is the same goal for all
socialist and communist governments.
