Bush's War in Georgia

Will it be the Flyswatter or the Blunderbuss?

By Mike Whitney

"I saw bodies lying on the streets, around ruined buildings and in
cars. It's impossible to count them now. There's hardly a single building
left undamaged." Lyudmila Ostayeva, resident of Tskhinvali, South Ossetia

11/08/08 "ICH" -- - Washington's bloody fingerprints are all over the
invasion of South Ossetia. Georgia President Mikhail Saakashvili would never
dream of launching a massive military attack unless he got explicit orders
from his bosses at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. After all, Saakashvili owes his
entire political career to American power-brokers and US intelligence
agencies. If he disobeyed them, he'd be gone in a fortnight. Besides an
operation like this takes months of planning and logistical support;
especially if it's perfectly timed to coincide with the beginning of the
Olympic games. (another petty neocon touch) That means Pentagon planners
must have been working hand in hand with Georgian generals for months in
advance. Nothing was left to chance.

It is Russia's invasion of the sovereign state of Georgia. Not Bush's war!

It is Russia's invasion of the sovereign state of Georgia. Not Bush's
war!

Putin is still smarting over the USA & Nato bombing Yugoslavia and
conming to the aid of Muslims.

Saakashvili seems to have fired first. He's "our" man. It seems to me like
the real question is, did we give him the green light? Russia hit back
hard. They must believe in the "Powell Doctrine".

Sad but, at least mostly, true... Seems to me like this is the best
argument for a real and genuine alternative energy program, as opposed to a
future of endless oil wars halfway across the world. Russia has the
geographical advantage, and, it can and will argue, the "moral" advantage.
That argument is, of course, as flawed as our own "moral" argument for our
adventures in the Mid East. If we had spent the amount of money that has
gone down the Iraq rat hole on energy research and development, we might be
at the beginning of a new age of energy independence.

Georgia wouldn't have had the balls to do what it did without a green light
from US. Looks like President Shitforbrains, made a serious error about
Russian reaction!

This smells like an early "October Surprise" from the GOP.
