  2 DVDs

Author: The Old Bloke
Date: Sep 16, 2008 02:59

Hi People,

I have an old film that spans two 4.7 DVDs (as .VOB files) etc. Each of
these DVDs play independently as a film (movie).

Can anyone advise how I can put these onto one playable DVD, either as a 9G
dual layer, or a compressed 4.7, via something like DVDShrink?

Regards
Doug

How to convert video file to DVD

Author: Flark
Date: Sep 9, 2008 20:24

Hi folks,

I have a video that is 640x480. You might think it would be
a simple matter to convert that to a playable DVD but
I am finding it is anything but. I keep finding that
the video is stretched beyond the borders of the TV screen,
especially when I try to use Nero.

I have Windows XP so I do not have the new
Windows DVD Maker or whatever it is.

I briefly downloaded and tried using a demo of Adobe Premiere
Elements but I was so disgusted with the logo on top of my video
that I deleted it right away.

Can someone recommend a good freeware program
for creating a real DVD?

I have tried HCEnc to encode the m2v file however
I found the encoding quality was very poor whenever
there was motion.

Thanks.

Hi,

I installed a new DVD burner for a friend
running Windows XP, and re-installed Nero 7
which came with the drive. Now whenever
Nero 7 is started, a window appears asking
if he would like to upgrade to Nero 8. (As
this costs money, he doesn't.)

How do I stop this annoying upgrade window
from appearing?

He had Nero 7 already installed, and the
previous version never pestered him with
this unwanted upgrade.

Hello all. First let me say I'm aware any encrypted DVD can be decrypted. I
am after a programme that will allow me to encrypt my DVD's that I produce.
Some will be copied I know but some won't either. Is there a programme out
there anyone can recommend and I don't mind paying if need be thayt will
like commercial discs, allow you to play them but not record them.

Thanks.

  Best Video Container for Metadata/Cataloguing?

Author: gaikokujinkyofusho
Date: Sep 1, 2008 06:54

Hi, my video collection s getting pretty unwieldy with all the
different coedecs/container etc. I love being able to use something
like winamp with MP3s for its database features (though there are
other good ones out there too) and I want to be able to search my
videos in a similar way. It seems that AVI’s do support a ton of
metadata (and one can use something like abcavi to do it) but AVI
seems to be a pretty old container format and while it supports
metadata there don’t seem to be many programs that actually read AVI
metadata.

So, I was considering keeping the codecs of all my videos intact but
putting them al into the same container. I thought something like
the .MP4 (.M4V?) container or the .MKV container might be good but I
wanted to post and see if I could get any useful input/opinions about
the best container. Any suggestions or recommendations would really be
appreciated!

Cheers

Gaiko
