Doctor loses appeal against incest sentence

A Queensland man has failed in his bid to have his prison sentence for
incest offences reduced.

The ACT Supreme Court ruled the original four-year sentence is fair.

The 48-year-old Queensland doctor sexually assaulted his 10-year-old
daughter in March last year.

The court heard he took her to a Canberra hotel room six weeks after a
Brisbane Court prosecuted him for indecent acts with another daughter
of a similar age.

The man was also suspended from practising at a children's hospital
after engaging in six sexual relationships with patients.

Three Supreme Court judges refused the appeal to release him from
prison early, stating a doctor should have stopped himself reoffending
and sought help for his mental health problems.
