Agent seems to be doing what it's supposed to.
First, You purged all messages older than 1 day. At this point no
messages will be present (since you haven't gotten any in more than a
day).
THEN, you retrieve headers for messages that are new since the last
time you got new messages. That's several days worth.
***
Purge and now you have 1 day's worth of messages.
Get new headers. Now it's slightly more than 1 day.
===
You seen to want the most recent day's messages only. Instead of
getting new headers, you could get the last day's headers (use "Sample
Recent Headers").
