some of my african american friends have been having a debate about
hair
one's point there was, apparently, the "upscale, african american
woman" is frequently insulted by the use of
nappy, as if it's an insult.

Like much else in her estimation, IT'S A DESCRIPTION!
and she doesn't mind it. she says she fears it quickly is on its way,
like coloured and black, to be considered some sort of
denigration by the white man.

she says that For one thing, I'she''d seen the
dictionary definition, and it FITS. Second, as usual,
she just doesn't get it.

To call black fro hair curly is madness, in her
estimation. A fro IS nappy, there's no two ways about
it.

my friend is Clearly not lacking
in brain power. Or looks.

i just watched 'guess who' with bernie mac and ashton kutcher, which is
an update of the 'gues who's coming to dinner' film - it contains a
scene of this very thing

also bernie demanded to know what sports ashton played and ashton lied
and said nascar driver, figuring bernie would have known nothing about
it.

as popular as nascar is, you would think he would choose cricket which
is barely known in the states
