Renee didn't appear until the story was set up, about fifteen minutes into the movie. And she
looked absolutely great! She had the S1 Gabrielle red hair. And even though she's 13 years older
now (24 when XWP first aired, and 37 now) she still breaks my heart (sighs). Like most TV movies,
the dialog left something to be desired, but Renee shined in her part. And even though we never got
to see her fab abs, some of her clothes were tight fitting enough that it's obvious she keeps
herself in shape!
Also in the movie was "Tiny" Lister, who usually plays some kind of psycho bad guy. And he
unintentionally added some humor as he gleefully shot the monster over and over with a pistol, a
machine gun and an RPG - with little effect, but he kept coming just like he knew he was going to
get in that one lucky shot if he just kept shooting.
There was the eye candy going by the name of Joanna. She was very pretty, and not
particularly phony looking. She didn't do such a bad job in her role.
There was the sort of fat, funny looking guy who played the comic relief - until he got shot.
Have no idea who the guy was who played Ava's (Renee's) ex husband, but he got to lay on top of
her (sort of), kissed her twice, and got a nice hug from her -- so I hate him.
The monster was almost fierce looking, but if it was going to destroy the world, it needed
to step up the pace. It took a pretty long time to kill people - slashing and slashing and
slashing before moving on to the next one.
The story idea was clever but some of the dialog could have been better.
The movie I would rate a 6 out of 10. ...

I couldn't quite figure out what her role was supposed to be. At
first I thought maybe she was having an affair with the professor, but
that didn't happen. Then I thought maybe Ava would think she was
sleeping with him and get jealous but that didn't happen either. I
agree she did a good job in the role but there wasn't much purpose in
her character.

I thought the same thing! Kinda like the Destroyer in A Family
Affair.

Maybe they wanted another student besides the chubby guy? Needed a gal with good abs since
it wouldn't be in Renee's character? She's a "Good Friend" of the director/producer/PTB?

I finally got around to watching this and compared to ROC's "Alien
Apocalypse" it was great. Compared to just about anything else, it was
pretty lame.
Right off the bat - they had to be just about the most careless
archeologists ever! I understand that once the fate of the world hung in the
balance that being careful and documenting everything was out the window,
but to have started out that way??? I mean there wasn't even an attempt to
pretend that they were professionals and knew how to approach retrieving an
artifact. No measurements, no cameras, no drawings, nothing - just get in
there and dig the damn thing out.
The CGI "monster" was really bad - obviously done on a very tight budget and
in a too-short period of time so that it wasn't at all scary or "realistic."
And if it was impervious to modern-day weapons, how did the ancient people
ever manage to 1) rid the earth of all but this one and 2) how did they ever
manage to subdue it to put it into the crate and 3) what special wood did
they use to build the crate that would prevent the monster from breaking
free?
