just wondering

Date: Aug 22, 2007 11:08

I am assuming there are rules to posting in a newsgroup but is there any way
to prevent those really annoying posts from appearing over and over again
and messing up the posts that actually deal with the actual subject of a NG
itself... for example the one that is bombarding almost every NG out there.
"MI5 Persecution: etc., etc.," ... I know I can ignore them, (which I do)
but just wondered if anyone has any control over content.... Is the intent
to just annoy or what? If this has been asked and answered before, I
apologize...

Depending on what news reader you are using, you can set up a killfile or a
filter. I have a filter against 'MI5' as part of the subject line, using
Outlook Express.

Believe you me, your not the only one asking this question in the usenet.

In general there is nothing you can do except try and adjust your software
to ignore such posts. Mostly the intention is to annoy. I think the
MI5 guy is genuinely mentally ill.

Sorry, can't help you there. The only time I use Google is when OE is acting up and nothing
will load.
The only suggestion I have is to just ignore unwanted messages.

Well the reason asking. You probably know there's an irritating troll
name Greg Dayton.
Well he follows me to several ng's..and post lies about me. He accuses
me being a pedophile.

Because I write fictional tv series stories with children. He takes it
further.

Carl, that is more than being an irritating troll. That sounds like
something that should be reported to the Police. To be making false
accusation as horrendous as that should be punishable by law. And even
though he (or she) isn't giving his (or her) real email address doesn't
mean they can't be found by the authorities... If not, then I need to stop
watching Law and Order... Good luck, That is terrible...

~Vi.. Yes its terrible. I just write for the fun of
it..and for the enjoyment. I tried many times reporting Greg to web
abuse..but they don't do nothing about it. So I'm just about giving up.

The only thing I can do...is ignore him..and hope he'll just fade away.

Greg already got me ban from a friend's ng last year. He lied that I was
molesting children..and been in jail. Well see I never have been in jail
in my life. And never have molested children.

But couldn't convince my friend...or former friend. She took the lying
woods of a troll..Greg.
So she ban me from posting in her group. Now her group is no more.

Thanks for your support ~Vi..
