Reading the discussions going on right now in some other threads, it
reminded me of something I have thought about a number of times over the
years since talk of a Xena movie first started: What would be the main story
line of such a movie? Would they concentrate the plot on how Xena is brought
back to life? Or would it be a brief chapter on getting Xena back to life,
and then focus on some new adventure they share together? Or would they do
some sort of hybrid - first half of the movie on getting Xena back, and then
the second half about their new adventure?

None of those options strike me as being very good or satisfying
thematically. In the first case, it would seem to be a movie that would be
primarily about Gabrielle, with Xena having a relatively minor role. I would
definitely be disappointed in that! If the second, it would almost
trivialize the issue of bringing Xena back, which I think is a big deal,
given what we, the fans, have suffered through for all these years! The
third option would be almost schizophrenic in approach - just what IS the
movie about?

I have read that Katherine Fugate has already either actually written a
script, or at least agreed to do so if they are ever given the go-ahead for
a movie. I wonder how she plans to deal with this dilemma.

I think it being about the attack on Amphipolis way back when that started
all of this(Xena's warrior path and meeting Gabrielle) would be interesting.
I mean we never really saw any flashbacks to it which I thought was weird,
given how important it was(the only one we ever saw about it was the
aftermath, after Lyceus is killed and Xena is tending to his dead body and
Cyrene comes in and she acts out in her grief against Xena). Except that
would mean no Gabrielle. And I can't really see that working out so well
amongst us fans.
