And not to bash an old topic into dust, but what's up with wanting new
actors? TPTB are in power, but we know how people in charge can be
stupider than dirt.

Yes, Clayton Moore was beyond the age to play the Lone Ranger, but the
refusal of TPTB to let him wear his mask in public, along with fans'
true appreciation that he IS and always will be the Lone Ranger, plus
the poor performance of Spillsbury in the title role (his voice had to
be dubbed), made that movie a turkey.

The Avengers flopped big time. Patrick MacNee lent his voice, Diana
Rigg refused to participate, nothing could save that film.

I watched Lost In Space on HBO....man, that sucked (of course there
wasn't much of an attempt to bring back original actors, although I
heard Jonathon Harris was contacted, but was such an egotistical
tyrant that no real offer was made; and Bill Mumy's presence, while
thought of, was felt it would take away from the new story line....uh,
whatever.)

There's been a few different Batman actors, and while Adam West would
be welcome in a cameo IMHO, his portrayal in the 60s was so overblown
campy that who needs him? The Dark Knight should be DARK, so whether
George Clooney, Val Kilmer, Christian Bale or whomever, we've had some
good actors, just not always good directors.

Anyway, without ranting on and on...as far as Xena....there are only
two people who need to play the roles...Lucy and Renee, period.
Nothing else, no one else will be worth 5 cents and 5 minutes. If the
film companies want to prove that, go ahead and make something that
flops so bad the DVDs are being sold in the bargain bin for $1.99.

But IF a movie with Lucy and Renee is made, I've wondered how others
feel the role of Ares should be addressed? Do we see someone to
replace Kevin (Dick York let his Darrin Stevens of "Bewitched" go to
Dick Sargeant and apparently fans were OK with that), or does the
story state that somehow Ares was defeated and there is a "new" god of
war? I imagine this has been discussed on and on, but I don't hit this
board too often.
