5-16 Lifeblood
First airing was March 13, 2000.
The story starts out with Xena, Gabrielle and Eve heading toward an Amazon camp. Gabrielle is
saying (to us) that this is the story of Eve's initiation into the Amazon nation and the Amazons'
rebirth.
Gabrielle intends to give Eve her Rite of Caste to make her an Amazon princess. At first Xena is a
bit hesitant, but seems to change her mind. When they arrive at the camp -NOT the Greek Amazons,
there are funeral pyres for many of them because they have been in a battle with Samite nomads.
Among the dead is Yakut. Yakut's spirit rises from her body, but only Xena can see her. She throws
a fireball at Xena and she flashes back to men and women dressed in animal skins battling against
each other.
The new leader of the Amazons, calling herself Cyane, gives Gabrielle a necklace that belonged to
Amarice, who also died. It has a new bead for Eve. Xena tells Gabrielle she saw Yakut's spirit.
Xena can't be a part of the initiation because she's not an Amazon.
Yakut talks to Xena again and tells her to dress as a shamaness, and that her mission in life
wasn't fulfilled so she can't crossover to the Land of the Dead. The Amazons are in danger and
their rescue is in the past.

I may have an answer, after thinking about it -- too dangerous to be hanging out in Greece
since all the Olympian gods are after them.

I Googled them and found both spellings, and both were from different reviewers of Xena
eps.
I think it is 'Rite of Caste' since a ritual is involved.

David. For several years now I've been writing stories of Xena. The
stories are of Xena..not about her. Just ask Charis. Last year...I
forward an erotic story of Xena..to Charis. I was waiting to find out if
she liked it. Well what Charis posted on yahoo...she thought the story
was sexy. I changed details of Xena's gender. The reason..she's muscular
like a man..and tall. Most women are the just average height..5'7" or
5'8". Lucy is 5'10".

As a matter of semantics, what is the difference between stories ABOUT Xena, and stories OF
Xena?
I suppose if it's your story, you can change just about anything you want to.

I always figured there was some kind of law common to all the Amazon
tribes, or a "contract" binding for all.

Easy, 'right of caste' yields non-Xena-related links, 'rite of caste'

Well David. Ok the difference between "about"..and "of"..is when I write
a story of a famous celebrity. The story is of..and not about.
There's a big difference there. If the story is about..then the story
would be True. But if the story is of..then the story is just made up or
imagined.
The stories of Xena..is what I write of Xena and not about. If Xena was
a true life person..and not a fictional character..then I would write
about..and not of. One is true and the other isn't. So I write stories I
just make up..just like the tabloid papers. They write about different
celebs...who they want to make up a story...and hope the readers will
believe it. Tabloids are for fiction and not the truth. But alot of
readers are stupid enough to believe the stories.
