  Favourite Simpsons episode

Author: Paulie
Date: Jul 23, 2008 01:44

Hi there everyone,
I am quite new to Google Groups and have just been searching around
and came across the simpsons group here which looks quite cool. I bet
this has bound to have come up several times and the olds hats of this
group will probably be banging their heads against the wall in
frustration but I was just curious to know what is your favourite
Simpsons episode. My one would probably have to be Homer's Triple
Bypass brilliant ep.
Cheers look forward to replys.

The Simpsons Movie, that is. And the license plate on Homer's car is

1PHI07? Or 1PHL07?

Does this mean anything to anyone??

The 10 year anniversary of the "Hat Putato" concept is at hand

Author: New L0bstr
Date: Jul 22, 2008 12:56

On September 12, 2008, I will be on this newsgroup to throw a
celebration marking the 10 year anniversary of the very first "hat
putato" post from alt.tv.game-shows. It's the post that began a
phenomenon, made people laugh their asses off, made people really
wonder if the late Bill Cullen really did toss a potato on Hot Potato,
and even drove the veterans of ATGS off of the group. Did I forget to
mention, "hat putato" is credited with being one of the seeds for that
great message board known as Invision. So log on to Usenet on
September 12, 2008 as we all celebrate the 10 year anniversary of "hat
putato."

Note: To those who plan on flaming this, shut the fuck up.

  Episode capsule compilers?

Author: Jouni Paakkinen
Date: Jul 22, 2008 05:39

SNPP's episode capsule backlog has become vast over the years and
currently we only have the capsules up to the first half of season 13.
None of us knew as young students that the show would go on and on, even
when we are old family men with day jobs. ;)

There's simply too much work to catch up on for one person, especially
when new episodes will start airing soon again, so we'd need some
additional help.

Would there be people here who would like to try out capsule
compilation? It might be a good idea to form a team, where each person
would concentrate on certain sections of the capsules. This would make
the process quicker and each person better in what they do as they go along.

Another important thing would be to be as precise as possible, follow
the capsule format, have a good grasp of spellling and language and
maybe most importantly, persistency to do the job well and for a longer
period of time. It's a lot of work and I'd like to know that the people
who'll take up on the task will also finish it. If not a full season, at
least several episodes. So please don't volunteer if you're not serious.

  DVD guide updates up

www.snpp.com/guides/dvdguide.html

It's been a little while since I managed to get it updated, so here's
a heads-up. Most of the updates are for season 10 and the movie, but
there's also a new item for 8F06 that I would very much like to get
hard evidence for.

That's all for now!

Why does Glenn Close ruin EVERY episode of "The Simpsons" she appears in???

Author: Taylor
Date: Jul 20, 2008 17:23

Soooooooooooo unfunny, Mat Groening. Her character (as Homer's mom,
Mother Simpson) has ALWAYS been a selfish cunt. And they KEEP writing
her storylines that allow her return.

Even now that she's "dead" and been "cremated", she could STILL
unfortunately return to further torture her son emotionally.

7/20 - Mona Leaves-a (KABF12)
Homer's mother dies (for real, this time), and Homer decides to
fulfill her last request of having her ashes scattered from the
highest point in Springfield National Park...but is it really just
an act of civil disobedience from beyond the grave?

7/27 - DOUBLE FEATURE
---------------------
8:00 - All About Lisa (KABF13)
Lisa climbs the ladder of fame after getting a job as Krusty's
assistant - and, unlike Bart, there doesn't seem to be any stopping
her once she reaches the top; Homer and Bart go after a 1917 misminted
penny that appears to have Lincoln kissing himself

8:30 - Little Orphan Millie (JABF22)
Milhouse's parents get remarried and go on a honeymoon cruise, but
when they are washed overboard and presumed lost at sea, Milhouse
breaks out a new rebel persona that takes over from Bart as the
popular kid in Springfield; Marge won't let Homer look at her eyes
until he can remember what color they are

did a ranking of fox cartoons since 97

Author: Stephen
Date: Jul 18, 2008 20:57

I apologize for the cruddiness of the text below, but I was thinking
about the quality of the Simpsons since the first year there was a
second major sunday night cartoon player (please I know the critic was
around in the mid 90's but the Simpsons was in its true prime back
then).

What I decided to do was rank the shows based upon one criteria only:
How watchable the episodes from those seasons are in 2008. If there
are episodes from two shows that are about the same on the watchable
scale then I would just rank them the same.

Here is my ranking from the years in question. Obviously if a show
does not exist or is on hiatus I will not include it in the rankings.
