Since you raised the connection between the license # and
Oklahoma - can you explain if there is a story behind the rest of the
license id - 853OKG?

I always thought that perhaps 853 was a significant date in
Mr. Garner's past - August '53. And that OKG perhaps stood for
Oklahoma Guard(?) or something related to Oklahoma. I've not been
able to make a connection.

Does anybody know the full meaning or if there is a meaning?

I think I've seen a decoding of "853OKG" by another member of the
newsgroup or maybe it's in one of the editions of Ed Robertson's book,
but I can't remember the details, except that in the explanation I saw
it was definite that "OK" = Oklahoma. I think you may be right about
"853" being a significant date in Garner's career, but I can't
remember exactly what. Don't recall what the "G" might signify.

Somebody else around here must know these things.

Did go to a military school in Kansas for part of my high school years
a long, long time ago, and the few Oklahomans in the student body
seemed especially loyal to their state--their attitude here really...
