I co-founded this newsgroup in the mid-90's along with another Berkeley
student. At the time, "The Rockford Files" was being shown daily on a local
station (uncut, I might add) which renewed a great amount of interest in the
show among twentysomething students who were too young to remember the
original network run. It was nice to come back to the dorm after a long day
of classes and relax in the lounge with a pizza and a "Rockford" episode.
It really hit the spot. This newsgroup started out slow, picked up steam,
and peaked in the late 90's and early 00's when the show was in syndication
on several national cable networks. That was the key to higher activity in
this newsgroup, by the way. When fans could see the show every day on
syndicated national TV, it led to more discussion...

Well put, and I agree with you. This is a dead newsgroup and there is
little chance it can be revived so why not just "put it into the ground".
There are only two or three people in here who make a regular, consistent
effort and the rest are just lemmings and trolls. And it certainly doesn't
help when Adam Kerman and others post off-topic messages like obituaries of
C-list celebrities who had no connection whatsoever to The Rockford Files.
By posting such messages, they turn this newsgroup into a niche newsgroup
catering to those who enjoy Hollywood minutiae and scare away those who come
here to discuss the actual topic.
This newsgroup should have been shuttered a long time ago.

For anyone who still doesn't believe that Our Dear would-be Troll is
putting on a different sock to followup to himself, just check the
headers. Comcast resells Giganews. The IP address of one's host is put
into the headers.

So fucking what? The point is dead-on: it's a dead group.
And you're a pathetic drone, the last "man" on earth Rockford would
hang with.
