Gearjammers

Is this the most often repeated (two-part) episode? I have seen this one
dozens of times, and it seems to me that it shows up on the various channels
a lot more often than most of the other episodes.

The one I have seen least often is the pilot episode with the original Rocky
(not Noah Beery, Jr.)

I dumped cable many years ago, but recycling material is not an
unusual network practice. I remember A&E would run the same 25
episodes over and over again. That's what the WB had been reduced to
doing with Hawaii Five-0 before it merged with UPN, and became MY41 --
better known around here as the DNC (Daylight Negro Channel). Now we
don't see these shows at all, because whiggers watch Smackdown, Family
Fued, Jerry Springer and Tyrant Skanks.

I do enjoy Gear Jammers ... it's a great one, and I can watch it
unedited on DVD whenever I want.

Skanks.

Whatever happened to TV Land? It used to have Bonanza, Gunsmoke, The
Rifleman, Leave It to Beaver, and now it seems to be all Sanford And Son,
The Jeffersons, What's Happening, Good Times, and we are talking endless
hours of back-to-back Jeffersons!

The WB showed Hawaii Five-0? Or do you mean the local WB affiliate?

Endless Bonanza and Gunsmoke broadcasts on weekends. The least they could
do is get their hands on the B&W Gunsmokes with Dennis Weaver and Burt
Reynolds.

"Wiseguy" with Dennis Weaver and Burt Reynolds.
>

The early years, from 1955-1960 were gritty, mean stories. I think the show
was only half an hour. Basically someone came in to town and Marshal Dillon
shot him to death twenty minutes later. Cool episodes of Two-Fisted Frontier
Justice.

No jackass sidekicks like Chester or Muley (Newly). Even Festus got killed
off in an early episode. The early years of Festus he was right ornery. Then
he was changed into a clown character.

Wasn't Chester on it from the beginning?

This mellowing of characters seems to happen a lot. Look at M*A*S*H:
angry and uptight (and hilarious)Hot Lips gradually morphed into the
sweet and generous (but not very hilarious) Margaret.

You are correct! He was on from 1955-1964. I have not seen all those early
episodes, but most of the time in the black & white episodes that were half
an hour, Chester is just around to pick up the dead bodies. The show was
really cool, as in some episodes the "bad guy" hardly does anything more
than insult the bar-room gal and Marshal Dillon blasts away! Bonanza was
similarly rough in its first season (1959).

Festus first appeared in 1962. The actor, Ken Curtis, appeared in five
episodes as another character (not Festus). His first appearance was in
1959, and he was gunned down by Marshal Dillon! Festus became a regular
character in 1964.

Burt Reynolds was only on from 1962-1965. Newly joined in 1967.

Here is the IMDB link to Gunsmoke!
http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0193411/filmoseries#tt0047736

It was a great series except towards the last years after Newly joined there
was more emphasis on helping people, being nice, comedy hillbillies, etc. I
blame THE WALTONS for destroying Gunsmoke and western TV shows in general.
