John,
Just a suggestion (and realizing you may already know the following):
Go to the archives of posts from this group, browse, and you'll find
much in the way of commentary over several years on many things about
"The Rockford Files," including pros and cons about the movies. In my
view, there's a great deal of good stuff in there from the highly
knowledgeable "Rockfordphiles," including some pretty comprehensive,
thorough group commentaries on all manner of interesting thematic and
production and actor-related stuff, and my guess is that many things
you might become interested in from watching episodes of the series
have been talked about in the archives. Trolls and socks are there,
too, but you'll soon know some of their handles and can select
accordingly. If you are using "Google Groups" to access this
newsgroup, search the archives of posts via "about this group." (If
not, and you want to, go to Google, search on "google groups," then
search on "rockford files" and you'll find "about this group.") There
are many threads in the archives about "The Rockford Files," some of
them carrying titles that are pretty indicative of what's being talked
about (and some titles are pretty cryptic, I'd guess) and which will
help you cull out posts that might concern something you're interested
in hearing about.
There is also a writer, Ed Robertson, who has written a book (updated
not too long ago in a new edition of the original) which provides a
lot of information, including playbills for each episode. Between his
book and the Rockfordphile posts in the archives, you might find some
stuff you'll enjoy reading.
Glad you like "The Rockford Files."
