I know a while back someone mentioned that www.hulu.com had the first
season free on their website, but now they've got seasons 2 and 3 as
well. Enjoy.

Rockford fans conveniently close to Southern California Sept 18-21 might be
interested in the Fan Fest for the NCIS TV series. Details can be found
here:
http://www.ncisfanfest.com/
TRF's very own Chas Floyd Johnson will be hosting a luncheon as part of
this year's NCIS Fest. Perhaps Johnson could be persuaded to discuss his
memories of The Rockford Files, too!
From the site:
The "NCIS" production plans to attend our Fan Fest on Saturday afternoon.
Executive Producer Chas. Floyd Johnson will host a luncheon that day at
the Beverly Garland, where the Fan Fest is being held, to be followed by
an afternoon of filmed greetings from the cast and crew in the hotel's
beautiful theater. In addition, there will be "behind-the-scenes" footage
prepared especially for those attending.

Well our hero has been having quite a rough time of it lately
with the stroke and an overly aggressive press, so here at last is
some good news for Rockford from today's LA Times

Taco trucks are back in full force
-- at least for now.
A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge Wednesday overturned a
controversial ordinance passed in April by county supervisors that
made it a misdemeanor in unincorporated parts of the county to park a
taco truck in one spot for more than an hour.

A great ep, but one thing puzzles me ... who killed Karen's neighbor?
We know Diana Lewis doesn't do it in her mad rush to catch the next
bus and that Cordeen couldn't have followed them home if his
girlfriend had to rely on public transportation to escape the scene,
so WHO killed the neighbor?

A few weeks ago, TCM aired a marathon of Garner's movies. I recorded a
few of them.
For some reason, I was in the mood to re-watch what I'd always
considered to be Garner's second worst movie, "Mister Buddwing". The
movie certainly has a lot going for it. It's adapted from an Evan Hunter
novel. Hunter was a very prolific novelist who wrote the 87th Precinct
novels as "Ed McBain" and used perhaps 20 other pseudonyms over his
lifetime. Hunter's books are readily adaptable for movies. He's also
written screenplays and teleplays.
Garner plays an amnesiac wandering through the streets of New York.
Through his encounters with four different women, he regains his memory.
Garner only knows that he's married but can't remember himself or his
wife. But the four women represent his wife at various points in their
relationship, an interesting conceit.
I like the scenes with the marvelous Angela Lansbury best. Two of the
others, Katharine Ross and Suzanne Pleshette, are ideal actresses to
cast opposite Garner, if only the scripts were better. In Garner's...

As I often have posted: no matter how many times I watch a TRF episode, I
continue to spot minutiae I missed in all the previous viewings. The
other night I watched "Just Another Polish Wedding" for about the 20th
time and saw things that it made me feel stupid I hadn't picked up on
before.
1) The voice on the opening answering machine message sounds like Jack
Garner.
2) The county employee who hires Jim to find the musician is the same guy
who was supervising the digging up of the deceased's back yard.
3) Since Marcus sometimes uses the last name 'Hayes,' Gandy's giving him
the nickname 'Gabby' makes him 'Gabby Hayes,' just like the veteran cowboy
sidekick actor.
4) Not only does Gandy continue calling Jim 'Rockfish,' Marcus starts
referring to Jim by that name, too, in the scene outside Jim's trailer.
5) On any other show, the family involved in the wedding would just be
stick-figure plot functions. On TRF, we get a surprising amount of
not-really-necessary backstory about and insights into them.
