Really? I guess that requires that the British should no longer care about
him. I guess once a British icon who has played for years for a club team
in Manchester, and to this day plays for the England national team in FIFA
international play, should be forgotten by the British public now that he
plays for a club in the United States.

Pele', the greatest soccer player ever, played almost his entire career in
his native Brazil. He then played at the very end of his career for the New
York Cosmos (while still playing for the Brazilian national team), so you
must think that at that point, the people of Brazil shouldn't know who he is
anymore. After all, New Jersey is nowhere near Brazil.
